> Our journey to China’s southwest province Yunnan will remain for us still for a long time in memory! From the provincial capital Kunming out we continued to the mountainous regions around Dali, Lijiang and Zhongdian. With a master driver it safely took us through adventurous road conditions to the most remote communities. To experience our travels here not least by the rich land and linguistic skills of our travel companion, made it possible, to go off the usual tourist routes and get in touch with local peoples to observe everyday life and culture of the numerously represented minority cultures. We once could experience a stay at a Tibetan house, watch when making Eucalyptus oil or have a look into the pots of a Muslim kitchen. The humorous, sympathetic person that accompanied us in Yunnan, as well as the readiness to deal with our individual desires and change to our needs and go along the path of a more spontaneous travel itinerary made us intensely pleased.

> We have enjoyed our so called "Ice Experience" during Chinese New Year immensely. We travelled with a small group of 8 people through the Northern Part of China with Rod our guide. This enabled us to see the Chinese country side and the peoples there in their native environment. This was wonderful and we have been many times in China but to sleep on a "kang" (warmed bed) was unique. Along the roads we travelled we marvelled at the dances we saw, in every village different and the architecture that is so special here. Wish Chinafaces all the best for the future.

With the help of Chinafaces we could travel through wonderful small and rural villages in Guizhou- and Guanxi province with two Chinese guides from a Dong community, Zhaoxing. > The Emperor's Wardrobe, China 2005. September 2005 I was able to come back to Beijing and with the assistance of Invenio Cataya, I travelled to the countryside. Both in the villages around Pingyao (Shanxi) and in Zhaoxing (Guizhou) they had arranged for me to stay for two weeks with a Chinese family. Also here it proved possible to gain access with my Chinese letter, although a small part of the women in the south could not read. Here my photobook had to explain and convince them. I always received kindness everywhere. Many thanks to Invenio Cataya and all my hosts and hostesses.

We enjoyed the first hand experiece of the people, the cutlure, and especially the food which the tour provided. We found Ilian to be a wonderful guide and companion-- very attuned to the nuances of China, and incredibly well-informed.
